The International Olive Products & Technology Exhibition and Forum (IOTEX)
According to the Royal
directions to upgrade the olive industry in Jordan and
attracting new investments in this sector through
collaboration between private and public sectors for The
Communications Craftsmen (COMCRA), Jordan Olive Products
Exporters Association (JOPEA) and Amman Chamber of Industry
(ACI) and Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO)
started the preparations to organize the 2nd biannual
exhibition The International Olive Products & Technology
Exhibition and Forum (IOTEX) that will take place in
Amman International Motor Show during the period from the
27th to the 29th April 2010 under the slogan of Technology &
Taste.
The first edition of the exhibition which was a great
success attracted 121 exhibitors from 12 countries covering
a net area of 1800 SQM , it also included six national
pavilions; The Tunisian pavilion was organized by Tunisian
packaging Technical Center, the Egyptian by the Egyptian
Olive Council, The Libyan by The Libyan Export Promotion
Corporation, The Lebanese by the Lebanese Ministry of
Industry and Trade, The Palestinian by the Palestinian Olive
Oil Association and the Jordanian by Jordan Enterprise
Development Corporation.
A total of 10000 visitors attended the previous edition and
2852 of them were specialized businessmen. A total of 369 of
them were foreign businessmen representing 12.9 % of the
total visitors. The promotional campaign was extensive and
comprehensive covering all parts of the world.
The exhibition was patronized by H.M King Abdullah II and
launched by the Jordanian Ministers of Agriculture, and
Industry and Trade and the Palestinian Minister of
Agriculture. The Exhibition which was held in a modern
exhibition venue was the first business to business
exhibition in olive products and related sectors, and was
managed and organized according to international standards.
The importance for organizing this exhibition - which will
be a real green meeting for olive lovers – is to focus the
attention on Jordan as a regional hub for olive industry and
trade in addition to achieve the following objectives:
Attract international investments
Upgrade olive oil industry in Jordan through accruing new
and developed production equipments and systems.
Focus the attention on Jordan as major importer and trader
country for olive products.
The next edition of the exhibition is expected to attract
export promotion corporations and local and international
olive products and technology producers from Jordan,
Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Egypt,
Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, Turkey, Italy, Spain, France,
Cyprus and USA in addition to visitors from all over the
world which will highly add value to the Olive Industry and
MICE tourism to Jordan.
